General
appearance, Appaloosa
Appaloosa
is a name for a colour. The Appaloosa is not a certain breed with specific
external characteristics, but a horse or pony with the "Appaloosa"
colour. There are different colours known within the Appaloosa studbook.
Leopard
spotted
Blanket
Fewspot
Roan and Marble
Snowflake
The
hereby mentioned colours are quite
well described but there are also all kinds of mixtures. Appaloosa's
are often like "magic-balls". They mostly change their colour
several years before getting their definite coat. Fowls are sometimes
born with 1 colour but that does not mean that in the future they will
not get an Appaloosa colour. Mostly the fowls do have 1 or more of the
other Appaloosa characteristics, namely:
- the so called "human eye", is a white eyeball with dark
iris.
- spotted geneaticals
- spotted nose and/or lips
- striped hoofs
